Brown's arrest comes after his mother's body was found Sept. 16 near the home they shared in Illinois
Former NFL player Sergio Brown was arrested Tuesday in San Diego in connection with the killing of his mother in Illinois. Mrytle Brown and her son were reported missing Sept. 16. During a search, her body was found near a creek not far from the home they shared in Maywood, a suburb of Chicago, according to Maywood police. Authorities later determined she had been assaulted and ruled her death a homicide. On Tuesday, Sergio Brown, 35, was arrested on a warrant for murder as he re-entered the U.
During a hearing Wednesday in San Diego Superior Court, Brown agreed to be extradited. Authorities have until Nov. 13 to return Brown to Illinois, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. As part of the investigation in Maywood, police looked into Instagram videos that appear to show Brown calling reports of his mother's death 'fake news.' “Fake news, fake news, fake news.
