World Cup winner Mendy is suing City for £11.5 million

Former Manchester City executive Omar Berrada has denied giving Benjamin Mendy 's agent "assurances" he would receive unpaid wages if he was cleared of sex offences.

He spent a total of five months in custody, and when released was subject to strict bail conditions, as well as an interim suspension order by the Football Association which prohibited him in taking part in "any football-related activity." City say he was not "ready and able" to perform the duties in his contract, that it was result of his own conduct and was an "avoidable impediment" to his ability to work.

Mr N'diaye said Mr Berrada told him that City were going to "suspend" his salary because he was in custody and that "once the trial was over was Benjamin would be paid back all of the salary." He said the executive was "very clear." Mr Berrada said: "I can remember having conversations with Mr N'Diaye and again in December. I remember the nature of the conversations. It was that, it looks likely he will be acquitted on all the charges and it's possible his suspension would be lifted by the FA.
