Ex-Kaizer Chiefs wizard has opened about his reasons for his abrupt exit at Stellenbosch. Was he released because of 'discipline issues' ?
Magesi FC midfielder Kgaogelo Sekgota has shared insights into the personal challenges that led to his unexpected departure from Stellies. After a period of being unattached, Sekgota has found a new opportunity with the Limpopo-based club, Magesi, as they prepare for their Betway Premiership campaign.
Sekgota, who was released from Stellies alongside Darrel Matsheke due to alleged “disciplinary issues”, addressed his departure with a sense of pride and reflection. “First of all, I don’t regret being at Stellenbosch; I am proud of the club and I also won a Cup, and it’s something that I will never forget,” Sekgota told. He emphasised that timing plays a crucial role in a player’s career, saying. “When it’s the right time for you to be at a certain place, it’s the right time.
Sekgota expressed his readiness to return to form and make an impact at Magesi FC, stating. “I am in a good space to play football. I am in a good space to bring back the Kgaogelo that people love and support.” Ex-Kaizer Chiefs wizard also highlighted his resilience, adding. “A challenge can be a challenge for any human being. But I am overcoming my challenges and there are still more challenges coming, and I am ready to overcome them.
Nabi defended his choice to retain Mbuthu despite the mistake that led to Young Africans’ second goal. “Mbuthu is a young player. I’m sure he’s a big player in the future,” Nabi told SuperSport TV. He stressed the importance of building confidence in young players, explaining, “I didn’t take him out because I want to give him confidence. I’m happy with his performance.”
Nabi emphasized that mistakes are a natural part of football and that his role is to support young players through their development. “Yes, he lost the ball before the goal but it’s normal, it’s football. But if I take him out, I kill him directly,” Nabi said. His approach reflects a commitment to nurturing and developing young talent as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
