Gerald Houston Lee was convicted of rape, sodomy and school employee having sexual contact with a student.

A former teacher and coach at a private school in Jefferson County has been convicted on sex charges involving a student. A jury on Friday convicted Gerald Houston Lee, 32, on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and school employee having sexual contact with student.

Lee formerly taught physical education at Jefferson Christian Academy. He also coached the boys’ basketball teams.Deputy District Attorneys Bella Colombo and Olivia Dinning prosecuted the case. Lee was represented by attorney Joshua Paul Jones. Irondale police launched the investigation in 2024 after they said they were made aware of an inappropriate relationship between Lee and a student that happened in 2023. He was arrested in June 2024 and released on bond. He was quickly terminated as a school staff member.
