But on Monday, he was facing a Dauphin County judge after pleading guilty to 15 counts of possessing child pornography.
Koplinski was hoping to get a shorter sentence that would allow him to serve his time in the county prison under the work release program. But the prosecutor pushed for a state prison sentence. Not only did he upload the images to the internet for his personal satisfaction, Gettle said, he also admitted to introducing pornography to other men, creating an appetite for children in pornography. He was in a group of men who watched pornography together and she said he would show images featuring older children, then work his way down to images of younger children to see if they caused arousal.
Koplinski entered inpatient rehab from Oct. 7 through Nov. 18 in 2020. He also attended 18 sessions with UPMC York, 60 sessions with a program in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 42 group meetings and 685 sessions with sex addicts anonymous, according to Bryan McQuillan, his lawyer. Although he admitted it was strange to say, his brother, Charles Koplinski, said he had never been more proud of his brother.
