GOP House candidate Colin Schmitt’s former flame Victoria Perrone hosted a fundraiser on Sunday for his Democratic rival, Rep. Pat Ryan.

“We enjoyed going to dinner. We’re both Italian. We both talked about food and cooking,” Perrone said. “We enjoyed arguing.” The Philadelphia resident now works for Spruce Consulting and helps Democratic candidates with campaign finance compliance. Schmitt, a state assemblyman who serves as a corporal in the Army National Guard and is married to Nikki Pagano-Schmitt, said it’s unfortunate that Perrone is helping her opponent.“Victoria and I were involved very briefly during my freshman year in college. She’s since become a national Democrat political operative who works for liberal candidates like Pat Ryan and John Fetterman [Democratic candidate for Senate in Pennsylvania),” Schmitt said in a statement over text.
“It’s no surprise that Pat would reach out to her for additional help to try rescuing his floundering campaign,” he added. “Rather than focusing on this nonsense, I will continue working to fix the economic crisis gripping Hudson Valley residents.”
