’ decision to demote embattled offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo from his role set off a wave of coaching staff changes at the NovaCare Complex.as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator on Jan. 13. But the phrasing was clear that Patullo wasn’t fired by head coach Nick Sirianni. Two days after Patullo was demoted, Sirianni was asked during his end-of-season press conference about the possibility of Patullo staying in a different role. “We’ll see how it plays out,” Sirianni said. “I know Kevin’s going to have other opportunities, and obviously always want what’s best for Kevin and for his family. So we’ll see how that plays out.”Sean Mannion was hired to replace Patullo as the play-calling offensive coordinator. Several new assistants — pass game coordinator Josh Grizzard, tight ends coach/run game coordinator Ryan Mahaffey and offensive line coach Chris Kuper — were also hired. Kuper and Mahaffey replace legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who left the team last week, and tight ends coach Jason Michael.Everyone was at fault for the offensive shortcomings this past season. The Eagles, coming off a Super Bowl LIX title, fell woefully short of their goals. In Patullo’s first and only season as the play-caller, the offense was frustrating to watch — and frustrating to play in. The Eagles were eliminated in surprising fashion at home by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card round. That prompted a significant shakeup on Sirianni’s staff. But Patullo and Sirianni are close. Patullo was the Indianapolis Colts’ WR coach when Sirianni was the OC from 2018-20.
