TWO former DAP members contesting as Independents in the Penang elections have pledged to back the unity government and Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s leadership if they are elected. In a joint press conference, Bagan Dalam candidate Satees Muniandy and Perai candidate David Marshel dispelled talk they would back Perikatan Nasional .

“We are not supporting any other Penang assemblyman, including from PN, as the next chief minister. We also object to any motion tabled to amend the Penang Constitution’s two-term limit for the chief minister’s post,” Satees said.Satees, who is Bagan Dalam incumbent, and David, a former Seberang Perai Municipal Council member, left DAP several days before nomination on July 29. – Bernama, August 9, 2023.
