A well-known former Kaizer Chiefs player will appear in court after reportedly deliberately receiving yellow cards to earn thousands from a match-fixing scandal.
This former Kaizer Chiefs player has grabbed international headlines for all the wrong reasons.Moreover, the former Amakhosi midfielder is said to have made thousands as a result of his implication in this said scandal. Here is the latest.Baccus and his former Macarthur FC teammates Ulises Davila and Clayton Lewis, and Lewis are facing serious charges of match-fixing.
“The 32-year-old is accused of deliberately receiving yellow cards, with investigations alleging that the incidents took place during game played on 24 November and 9 December 2023. It is said that hundreds of thousands of dollars were paid out in winnings as a result,”In fact, Davila has had his contract terminated. The former Macarthur FC captain is be the ringleader of the match-fixing scheme.
Baccus was suppose to make his second court appearance on Monday morning. However, he was not present with his case being heard without him present. Prosecutors will present there evidence and findings by 22 August. “According to New Zealand outlet 1News, Baccus was due to make his second appearance at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday but his case was heard without him being present,” the same publication added.
