KOTA KINABALU: A former technician with an oil and gas company has claimed trial to seven charges of receiving bribe money totalling to RM8,400 from a contractor in Labuan.
Mazeran Mohamad Zain, 39, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him at the Labuan Sessions Court on Friday .
Mazeran was accused of receiving the said money which was transferred seven times through online transactions into his bank account between Oct 31 and Dec 20, 2019. The money was meant to be a bribe for the accused, in his role then as a work leader, to enable the issuance of permit-to-work documents as well as to monitor work by the company at the plant.Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga allowed the accused a RM15,000 bail, with a RM2,000 deposit and one surety for all the charges.
Appearing for the MACC was prosecuting officer Joe Randy Juster while the accused was represented by counsel Datuk Seri Rakhbir Singh.
