Ex-Army soldier husband charged with stabbing nurse mum-of-three to death at home
AN ex-Army soldier husband has been charged with stabbing to death his health care worker wife in Barnsley.
Mum-of-three Victoria Woodhall, 31, who worked as an operating department practitioner at Rotherham General Hospital, died after she was attacked in Middlecliffe just before 5pm on Sunday.The victim, 31, was found dead at the house in the villageCredit: SWNS:South West News ServiceVictoria had married Craig, a former soldier, just seven months ago.
South Yorkshire Police were called to an address in Middlecliffe at 5pm on Sunday over "concerns for someone's safety".An air ambulance was spotted landing in a nearby field and paramedics rushed to the property but Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene. Gareth Cowley, 33, her ex-husband, said their daughter was due to celebrate her 13th birthday today with Victoria."She was an amazing and loving mum to our daughter. I always had the utmost respect for her."
Tributes have been paid to Victoria and a GoFundMe page has been set up by her friends, Donna Wetherall and Kelly Sims, to raise money towards funeral costs and to help her children.They said: "Victoria worked really hard at university, qualifying to become an ODP at the Rotherham General Hospital."She was lovely and caring, always helping others, lived for her children, and sadly she was taken away at a young age of 31.
