KOTA KINABALU: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick is confident that airlines will reduce airfares for students travelling between peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak before Hari Raya Aidilfitri. He said although the current administration was a unity government, relevant ministries were looking into reducing airfares especially during the festive season in an effort to fulfil the election promise.
For example, he said the pledge for cheaper flight tickets was being handled by the Transport Ministry. "I am also confident that the Transport Minister is also discussing how the ticket price can be reduced during the festive season for students especially," he said. Ewon said discussions between the Transport Ministry and airlines had seen some reduction in flight ticket prices.
