'House of the Dragon' star Ewan Mitchell on Prince Aemond Targaryen for the second season.
Earlier this month, “House of the Dragon” star Ewan Mitchell found himself in New Jersey, ringside for a UFC fight.
The actor stars in the “Game of Thrones”-adjacent series as Prince Aemond Targaryen, a tragic semi-villain. The actor has emerged as a fan favorite for his portrayal of the one-eyed prince, who was neglected and bullied as a child but emerges into adulthood with a firm sense of power — and, after being denied his own dragon egg, the most powerful dragon around.“You’ve got this giant, badass dragon named Vhagar, and she’s so enormous that she can’t fit within the confines of any castle wall.
“My brother works in aerospace and a lot of my family worked at Rolls-Royce and so it was kind of expected that I’d get into that industry and follow in the footsteps of my family. And that was just never something that I wanted to do,” he says. “But I always had this curious fascination with acting.”One day at school, a teacher went around the room asking everyone what they wanted to be when they grew up. “One kid said, ‘I want to be an engineer.
“Because I never went to drama school, every job for me is like an apprenticeship in a way,” he says. “I think of what Bruce Lee once said: ‘absorb what is useful and discard what is not.’ He would cherry-pick from different combat disciplines and in a way form his own martial art. And in the same kind of way, that’s what I’m doing.”
