Kohberger will be arraigned on May 22 after a grand jury indicted him in connection with the murder of four University of Idaho students.
During the arraignment, the judge will state Kohberger's rights and the charges against him. He will likely be asked to enter a plea for each charge.
However, if Kohberge pleads not guilty as expected, the case will head to trial. If he refuses to enter a plea, the court will enter a plea of not guilty on his behalf. "There is no reason to believe it's anything other than a 'not guilty' plea at this juncture. The bond will remain the same. It's possible the parties could raise discovery issues," he toldMcAuliffe said the next"fundamental" issue that would need to be addressed is whether the state intends to seek the death penalty.
