We've finally gotten an in-depth look at Battlefield 6, the next upcoming entry in the long-running FPS series. Long rumored, and subject to no end of rumors and alleged leaks, Battlefield 6 was finally revealed last week.
A livestream followed earlier today, giving us a wealth of new information on the gameplay, as well as Battlefield 6's release date. In case you missed the initial trailer or the livestream that followed, here's everything we currently know about Battlefield 6. That includes when it's scheduled for release, a look at its approach to map design, what classes players can choose from, how you can preorder the game, and, of course, what new features have been added. Battlefield 6: Release Date When Battlefield 6 Comes Out Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10, 2025, although early access periods will allow some players to check it out earlier . It'll launch at $70 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, once again bucking the $80 games trend. If you're interested in playing Battlefield 6 a little early, there'll be two open beta periods, plus an early access period. The first open beta runs from August 9 to 10, and the second from August 14 to 17. If you've already signed up for Battlefield Labs, then you'll be able to play Battlefield 6's open beta as early as August 7. You can also preorder the game to get early access. Otherwise, you may be able to earn an early access code via Twitch drops - try watching Battlefield 6 beta streams on Twitch. If all else fails, you can simply sign up to begin the open beta on August 9 via the official EA website. You'll need an EA account if you don't already have one already, which you'll then have to link to an account on your preferred platform . Battlefield 6: Maps & Game Modes What Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Will Look Like Close We now know of at least three settings due to be featured in Battlefield 6's multiplayer maps, including Egypt, Gibraltar, and New York. Operation Firestorm will also be returning from Battlefield 3. More map settings are likely to be revealed closer to Battlefield 6's launch, if not after the open beta goes live. What we do know more about, though, is how Battlefield 6 is approaching map design. Each map will have multiple combat zones, and will be tailor-made to work well in a certain mode, be it Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Deathmatch, Domination, Battle Royale, or King of the Hill - all of which are due to be included in Battlefield 6. There'll also be a brand-new mode, Escalation, where two teams will battle over strategic control points. We don't know much more about this new mode just yet, though. Battlefield 6's Class System Explained A Revamped Classic Surprising no one, Battlefield 6 will use a revamped version of the same old class system. You'll be able to choose between the usual: Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer. As usual, you'll likely be able to customize each class' loadout to a certain extent, and switch between them whenever you respawn. However, each of the four classes will also have class-specific abilities, gadgets, weapons, and training. This isn't necessarily anything new, but it certainly sounds like they'll be a little more transformative for each class than similar features have been in previous entries. Battlefield 6 Preorder & Edition Details When & How To Preorder Battlefield 6 You can preorder Battlefield 6 starting today on all platforms where it'll be available - Steam, Epic Games, PSN, and Xbox. Although preordering the game will grant you access to the early access period, you don't have to preorder to enjoy the open beta at a later date. Battlefield 6 is available in two editions during this preorder period: Standard and Phantom. Standard runs you $70, and, besides open beta access, earns you the Tombstone pack, a mostly cosmetic DLC that also comes with a handful of XP boosts. The Phantom Edition will run you $99.99, and, besides the Tombstone Pack and early beta access, will also net you a Battlefield Pro Token. This grants you a Season Pass to the first season you play, allowing you to skil the first 25 loot tiers and receive exclusive rewards. With the Phantom Edition, youi'll also get an extra series of XP boosts, as well as another set of cosmetic items for your player character. Battlefield 6: New Gameplay Details New Features & Updated Systems Battlefield 6 will introduce a couple of new gameplay features, while also refreshing and enhancing series staples for a familiar, yet modernized experience. First is the new Kinesthetic Combat System, which is all about player movement. Kinesthetic Combat is supposed to improve your mobility, granting you access to tactical maneuvers like Drag and Revive to get your allies out of the line of fire. It'll affect gunplay, too, allowing you to do things like mount your weapons on walls to mitigate recoil. In addition, Battlefield 6 will feature a revamped Destruction system that'll encourage players to carve their own paths across maps. You'll break down walls to create new advantages, get around enemy choke points, and forge shortcuts from one objective to the next. Battlefield 6 will also see a new version of Portal, a creative platform that'll allow players to create and share their own content. You'll be able to make your own match types and check out other players' creations, just as in Battlefield 2042. And that's just about everything we know about the next Battlefield game at this early stage. The upcoming open beta is certain to reveal more, but for the rest, we'll have to wait until Battlefield 6's October 10 launch. 7 Images 7 Images Close Like Follow Followed Battlefield 6 FPS Systems Developer Battlefield Studios Publisher EA Engine Frostbite Multiplayer Online Multiplayer, Online Co-Op Franchise Battlefield Number of Players Single-player Steam Deck Compatibility Unknown
