Netflix's Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour was shot over the course of two sold-out tour dates in Los Angeles, California's Intuit Dome, and it, of course, came with some incredible costume changes throughout. GUTS is Rodrigo's Grammy-nominated sophomore album, which explores themes of heartbreak, new love, and the crushing weight of young adulthood's new responsibilities.
"All-american b*tch" takes its name from Joan Didion's The White Album . The singer has never shied away from criticizing patriarchal norms and conservative politics, and the wardrobe associated with this portion of the show feels spot-on for its lyrical content. During the song, vintage video clips and news clippings featuring stories of American women are projected onto the screen.
The tank tops are paired with glittery micro shorts and the same custom-made star-detailed tights by Wolford as seen throughout other segments of the show. At this point in the show, Rodrigo uses an incredibly unique microphone inside a bullhorn for an entertaining call-and-response moment with the crowd. The custom tops created a unique concertgoer experience.
In GUTS World Tour, Rodrigo additionally wears this ensemble during her duet with Chappell Roan. Roan, now a chart-topping pop artist herself, opened for the first leg of Rodrigo's GUTS tour, gaining new notoriety for her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Roan is known for her long, red curly hair and ambitious drag makeup and costumes.
