Both Martin and Short were nominated for best performance by an actor in a television series – musical or comedy. Martin’s nomination marks the fourth consecutive year he has been nominated in the best television actor in a musical or comedy series category for the series. This nomination marks his ninth overall Golden Globes nomination and could be his first-ever win.
“Many factors go into that decision, I will say, and that’s because it springs forth so many ideas about what the season wants to look at, what parts of the terrain of New York, or our trio’s lives, or the building’s life, do we want to delve into that we haven’t gone towards before?” he said. “We also very much like the connection of someone we know. It’s terrible in many ways, but many surprises yet to come around that decision.
