In a shockingly short time, Jennifer Lawrence has compiled a formidable résumé — where does No Hard Feelings fit in her career?
, in which she plays Maddie, an unhappy bartender who is content to drink and screw her way through life. We’re used to her portraying down-to-earth characters, especially during her indie days, but Maddie is something else: a loser and a jerk, an immature 30-something who refuses to take responsibility for her actions because she’s still mourning the death of her single mom.
Forget subtlety and restraint: Sometimes being an actor just means wearing loud wigs and garish clothes and rockin’ the gaudiest accent you can muster. She’s a hoot.Lawrence is too young, and really just hasn’t made enough movies yet, to have a back-to-basics movie, but this is the closest she has come to returning to herroots. She plays Lynsey, a veteran sent back to her hometown of New Orleans after suffering a brain injury from an IED explosion in Afghanistan.
