Everton have 12 first team players contracted beyond next summer, presenting whoever is in charge with an opportunity to shape a squad for the club's new home
Next summer will be an historic period of transition as Everton move from Goodison Park to the club’s new waterfront home. Serious change will extend far beyond the club’s address, however. Twelve players in the first-team squad are due to be out of contract at the end of the season - giving The Friedkin Group, should their takeover go through, an opportunity to build a new team for the club’s new future .
James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite are both under contract beyond the summer but should Branthwaite consolidate the reputation he earned in his breakthrough year, then the Blues will expect serious bids for his services. O’Brien could end up stepping in to replace him or be his future partner in a position where change could happen.
