He has since had a 'major medical procedure', which the club have confirmed has been successful, but did lead to Kenwright being kept in intensive care due to a complication during the surgery.
"Following a diagnosis at the beginning of August, Mr Kenwright underwent a major medical procedure six weeks ago to remove a cancerous tumour from his liver. Everton's owners agreed to see the club to US private investment firm 777 Partners last month. The Toffees have stated Kenwright had still carried on helping to facilitate the sale before the surgery.
