Our Everton writers pick out their best buys during the Farhad Moshiri era
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has received his first England call-up and could make his international debut against Brazil this evening.
However, among all of the profligate outlays, which Everton signing of the current regime represents the best value for money? Members of the ECHO sportsdesk have their say…Dominic Calvert-Lewin could do with a timely pick-me-up but I’m not being charitable to give him this title. His current 22-game goalless streak must be immensely frustrating for Everton’s number nine.
Well, let's speak facts. Thanks to the X account @EFC_Statto, we can see just how good Pickford has been for his country:Second most clean sheets in World Cups and European Championships .Zero errors leading to goals in 52 competitive games. While not cheap at £30m, he has been worth every penny and continues to be worth penny, as evidenced by the fact that only David Raya has more clean sheets than the Blues hero in the Premier League this season. The same Raya who has replaced Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal's first-choice keeper. Ramsdale, of course, being the same goalie those same pundits and journalists who should know better had been petitioning to become England's No.1. They'll learn eventually. Well, hopefully.
