The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has released stunning new images of supermassive black holes, revealing intricate details about their magnetic fields and the environments surrounding them.
The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has produced a new image showing details of the magnetic fields in the region closest to the supermassive black hole at the core of the galaxy M87. The new work is an important step forward in understanding how these fields interact with the black hole and its environment.
The EHT collaboration also captured a new image of the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) in the Milky Way galaxy, revealing strong and organized magnetic fields spiraling from the edge of the black hole. The new images provide valuable insights into the behavior of black holes and their surrounding environments. One thing everyone knows about black holes is that absolutely everything nearby gets sucked into them. Almost everything, it turns out. Astrophysicists have now determined conclusively that particles can escape from the black hole's gravitational pull. The galaxy M87, located in the Virgo constellation, provided the first-ever photo of a black hole in 2019, when the EHT captured an image of the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy
