Even more Final Fantasy games look set to give Xbox a miss... just what is going on with Square's hit JRPG series these days?
, frequent chatter about hit MMO Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox has led to nothing after almost a decade, and indirect messaging around upcoming timed PS5 exclusive Final Fantasy XVI has fans worried it'll be FFVII Remake all over again.
Now, it looks like we can add six more games to the pile, with recently spotted ESRB console listings for the remastered editions of the first six games in the series spotted over onFinal Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection seemingly not coming to Xbox The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection offers a spruced-up set of the first six games in the world's biggest JRPG franchise, letting a whole new audience enjoy the NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom classics today. The remasters arrived on PC and mobile last year, with the new ESRB listings suggesting that PS4 and Switch versions are set to join soon — potentially as shadow-drops for the franchise's 35th anniversary at the end of this week.
It seemed like Microsoft and Square had a good thing going for a while there, with Xbox getting the remastered versions of FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, and FFXII. All of these titles, as well as the FFXIII 360 trilogy, even made their way into Game Pass. Of these, only Lightning Returns remains in the service and its days seem numbered, having joined in early March and with the other games lasting roughly 12 months on Game Pass a piece.
