SANTA CLARITA — It was a night dominated by a great defense and a relentless running game as Canyon High overwhelmed Harvard-Westlake, 46-7, in a nonleague contest on Friday night.
“Evan Watts is an energy player. He’s a great athlete, comes out and makes plays,” Holsenbeck said. “He can’t help but make plays. That’s the guy he is.” Canyon opened a 21-7 advantage by halftime, then seized a firm grip on the game in the third quarter – keyed largely by Watts. Another rushing touchdown – one of Canyon’s seven – pushed the margin to 33-7 and the rout was on. Canyon scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and Holsenbeck made note of their prolific running game.
