Police said on Friday there had been several reports of a man matching Evan's description seen walking between Howwood and Lochwinnoch on the A737 - however the man was traced and found not to be Mr Reid.
Police have confirmed a man seen walking on a major Renfrewshire road is not missing Irvine man Evan Reid, after several members of the public came forward with information.
He had text his partner Nicole Murray to say "something dodgy was happening" prior to him leaving the train in Paisley town centre. "Officers traced the male who was on the A737 and we can confirm this was not the missing person. We would like to thank the members of the public who called in to report this sighting."
“Obviously we don’t know what kind of state he is in but this is not like him at all. He has no mental health issues, we just don’t know what’s happened.
