European Space Agency Solar Orbiter captures 'closest ever pictures' of the sun
The British-built European Space Agency Solar Orbiter has captured the closest images ever taken of the Sun while flying between the orbits of Venus and Mercury, according to the UK Space Agency. The stunning images taken by the Solar Orbiter while 47 million miles away from the surface of our host star include signs of mini solar flares that have been dubbed 'campfires' by the scientists behind the probe.
