Europe’s youth could be steering new coronavirus cases, U.S. leaders warn
in coronavirus cases in young people, European countries are reporting a similar trend of people under the age of 30 becoming infected in the wake of social distancing measures being rolled back.Hans Kluge, the World Health Organization’s Europe regional director, told BBC Radio 4’s“We are receiving reports from civil and health authorities of a higher proportion of new infections among young people,” Kluge said Wednesday.
Kluge said with two daughters, he understood how hard it is for Europe’s youth to be socially distanced for so long—”they do not want to miss a summer,” Kluge said. “But they have a responsibility towards themselves, their parents, grandparents and their communities.”
