“Everybody’s so talented on the show, that at times I feel like I’m punching above my weight,” Eric Dane says of his Euphoria co-stars.
Though Dane doesn’t appear in those scenes, he spent some time on set when they were being shot, getting to know the young actor—who will next be seen in a teen show of a different stripe,“He was terrific,” Dane said, though he admits he didn’t understand the casting choice at first. “At first glance, I was like, That’s young Cal? And then I started talking to the guy and I watched some of his stuff and I was like, Yeah. That’s young Cal.
After the flashback, the episode catches up to modern-day Cal, who’s stalking Fezco’s house after Nate tells him the drug dealer obtained the sex tape Cal secretly made when he committed statutory rape with Jules. Ashtray brings Cal into the house at gunpoint, questioning him and beating him over the head with the end of the shotgun. “That scene was a little tough because I did take multiple shots to the head,” Dane notes.
In the scene, it doesn’t take long for Cal to realize that Fezco, who is utterly confused by the whole situation, doesn’t have the tape. Slowly, the scene tilts away from drama and up toward comedy, with Dane likening it to a bizarro episode ofIt was a rare treat for him to act alongside other cast members of the show, as most of his scenes are usually with Elordi.
