... [+]To anyone who has imagined working in Europe for a long period of time , there are increasing options for people who can work remotely. These digital nomads, or, are being increasingly lured by EU governments as a means of combating the economic impacts of the pandemic.

In Europe, a wide number of countries already have schemes to attract digital nomads–by definition, these are people that are already employed and can therefore, immediately spend money in the country of their choice and help boost the economy. Applicants must prove they already earn a steady income, often around the $2,000 mark and most offer stays for up to a year, with the option of renewing the visa once or twice.

There are already schemes in Georgia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Iceland, Germany , Norway, Portugal , Malta, Hungary andThe main draw for the digital nomad visa is the length of time that someone can stay in a country–most visas are only for a period of three months and even if a visa isn’t needed to visit a country, one is needed if the visiter plans to stay longer than this.

And now Spain has announced that is is launching a digital nomad visa. People who work for clients or companies outside of the country would be allowed to enter for six to 12 months without the right to residency–visas could also be extended under the right conditions.
