European lawmakers have approved a plan that makes it easier to send rejected asylum seekers to new detention centers outside the EU. The European Parliament voted 389 to 206 in favor, with 32 abstentions. Right-wing parties teamed up with far-right groups to pass the measure. Left and centrist parties voted against it.
