Working professionals from diverse backgrounds said they believed their white colleagues were paid more than them

New figures reveal that Black working professionals will struggle to pay mortgage, rent and other bills because of low payPROFESSIONALS FROM Black and ethnic minority backgrounds could be hit harder by the cost of living crisis because of lower levels of pay than their White counterparts according to a new report.

According to the survey nearly 19 % of Black, Asian and minority ethnic workers have been told by employers they will not see a pay rise this year because of rising inflation rates. However only 10% of White working professionals have been given this news. “People Like Us is asking the government to reconsider making ethnicity pay gap reporting mandatory for companies. It will truly create huge strides in making a fairer and more equal society.”

A quarter of them said they suspect the disparity in pay was up to £5,000 which could result in ethnic minority people losing out on £255,000 of earnings in their lifetime working lifetime.
