ESPN's NFL reporters conducted a two-round redraft of the 2024 NFL draft, revealing interesting changes in team selections. Notably, Byron Murphy II's stock dropped significantly, landing with the Chargers in the second round. This raises questions about Seattle's potential replacements, with an offensive lineman likely to be their target.

Who doesn't love a hindsight NFL mock draft ? ESPN's NFL beat reporters recently conducted a two-round redraft for the 2024 class, which involves re-assigning most players from one team to another based on their rookie seasons and the teams' positional needs. Unsurprisingly, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' outstanding year propelled him from the No. 2 overall pick to No. 1 and the Chicago Bears. The Seattle Seahawks originally selected Byron Murphy II at No.

16, but in ESPN's redraft, he plummeted to the second round and landed with the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 37. Imagine the Chargers' offense in an alternate universe where they didn't draft a receiver with either of their first two picks – Joe Alt remained at No. 5. Without Ladd McConkey and with Quentin Johnston as the primary receiver, it would have been a challenging year for Justin Herbert. This redraft scenario also raises questions about who would replace Murphy on the Seahawks if he's no longer on the team. As expected, the answer points to an offensive lineman. Latham, drafted by the Tennessee Titans at No. 7 overall, played exclusively at left tackle, a switch from his time as a right tackle in 2022 and 2023. He did have some experience at right guard during his freshman year, leading to Henderson's note about potentially moving Latham inside to guard. I believe Murphy's presence contributed to the Seahawks' improved run defense, and he'll only get better with his sacks and pressures. If we use Nnamdi Madubuike as a comparison, the Baltimore Ravens star recorded only three sacks in his first two seasons before increasing to 5.5 in year three, then 13 in year four, and finally 6.5 in 2024, which is still impressive for a defensive tackle. Other notable players selected in the Round 1 redraft after No. 16 included Brian Thomas Jr., Dallas Turner, Quinton Mitchell, Braden Fiske, Graham Barton, Chop Robinson, Cooper DeJean, Xavier Worthy, Keon Coleman, and Mike Sainristil. Perhaps with the exception of Graham Barton, I'm not losing any sleep over the players Seattle could have chosen, including Jared Verse
