USA TODAYESPN has decided to postpone airing the broadcast of an esports tournament it sponsored last weekend in Minneapolis following the recent mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, a person with knowledge of the plans told USA TODAY Sports.
The person requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly until the announcement was official. The ESPN EXP Invitational for the video game"Apex Legends" — which took place August 2-3 at X Games Minneapolis — was scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN2 Saturday at 10 p.m. ET. While the hour-long recap show can still be watched on ESPN3, the broadcast has been rescheduled to air several times in October.
