MANILA - Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio should let defense experts handle security matters, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon said Monday after the retired magistrate
called for joint patrols in disputed areas in the South China Sea.
This after recent incidents involving China in the waters, including pointing a radar gun at a Philippine Navy vessel. Esperon added that the Philippines should use its resources wisely and study its moves in the disputed waters carefully.Malacañang, meanwhile, welcomed the suggestion of Carpio, for long an advocate of the country's sovereign rights in the waters, but noted that it does not agree with the personal opinions of the former magistrate on China.
