Eskom’s load shedding schedule for the weekend is bad news for some rugby fans.
Eskom says load shedding will continue to be implemented during the evenings this weekend, but there will continue to be more respite during the night.Load shedding will then be suspended from 05:00 to 16:00, with stage 2 then returning. Eskom stated that this cycle will be repeated until further notice.Eskom said that it has been able to keep breakdowns below 13,384 MW whilst generating capacity out for planned maintenance currently sits at 6,510 MW..
In addition, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said that increased planned maintenance is keeping breakdowns to a minimum. “There’s a correlation between planned maintenance and the rate of failures of the units. The team is seeing when they return the units; these units remain on load for longer periods… their efficiency and reliability are improving,” Ramokgopa said at a media briefing earlier this week.Smartphone users can also download the app EskomSePush to receive push notifications when load shedding is implemented, as well as the times the area you are in will be off.
