The public art is at the corner of Grand Avenue and Maple Street Plaza

The mural was designed and installed by local artist Brenda Townsend of Brilliant Spectrum Art. The brightly colored artwork depicts three larger-than-life hummingbirds flying through a stained-glass garden along with some yellow butterflies that happened to show up while Townsend was working on the mural.
The vibrant hummingbirds are supposed to represent the “joy, beauty, and energy of Escondido’s Historic Downtown.” The piece was designed to complement the nearby Maple Street archway.
