Escondido police find 10 bullet casings after Saturday night shooting; no injuries reported [Breaking]

Escondido police are looking for a shooter who opened fire near an apartment building Saturday night, leaving behind around 10 bullet casings but apparently not injuring anyone.

The shooting was reported around 8:40 p.m. at an apartment building on Lincoln Avenue near North Quince Street, said Escondido police Sgt. Vincent Abeyta. Several residents called to report hearing 10 to 15 gunshots in the area, with some callers saying they thought it came from an upstairs unit. Officers quickly responded to the location and established a loose perimeter around the building. SWAT officers also responded, bringing a police armored vehicle known as a Bearcat.Officers called out to the apartment in the building and a few people came out, Abeyta said. Officers searched the unit but did not find any evidence of a crime inside, he said.

After widening the search area, police found 10 casings on the ground from a 9 mm gun around 30 yards from the apartment building, Abeyta said. It is not known if the shots were fired from a vehicle driving by or a person on the ground.
