A person deprived of liberty (PDL) who escaped from the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) has been arrested, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said. | ManilaBulletin
BuCor, citing a report from LRP Superintendent CSupt. Alfredo A. Devaras Jr., said the PDL escaped last June 30 but was arrested last July 4 with the help of two informants. The bureau did not identify the arrested PDL.
As a result of the incident, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. reminded the heads of the bureau’s prison facilities nationwide to strengthen the implementation of security measures.Two men who gave the information on the location of the escapee were given P32,000 as reward money by LRP.
BuCor said the informants who noticed an unfamiliar personality in their area immediately informed LRP. Upon verification, the PDL was arrested. The team of corrections officers who exerted all efforts to arrest the escapee have been given certificates of commendation, it said.
