) - The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says deputies fired at a man who pointed a firearm at them Saturday, March 23rd.Here is the release from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office:
“On 3/23/24, ECSO responded to North L Street and Avery Street in reference to shots fired. During the investigation, a Z Trip driver who picked up a male, later identified as S/Je’Teris Damon Peaks , on the 500 blk. of Paula Avenue and was taken to 1717 N. Pace Blvd. to be dropped off and the driver stated that S/ Peaks then refused to pay for his fare. The Z Trip driver, then followed S/Peaks around the block where S/Peaks shot at the driver, striking the back window, shattering it.
S/Peaks was arrested and charged with counts of Aggravated Assault on LEO and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Resisting arrest. No Deputies, nor the Z Trip driver were injured during this incident. Per protocol, FDLE responded to investigate the officer-involved shooting.”
