We chat with Ernie Hudson about his new film PrisonersDaughter, his reunion with Brian Cox after Oz, and what to expect from Winston in the upcoming Ghostbusters films:
One father only has a short amount of time to fix a life full of mistakes in Prisoner's Daughter. The moving drama centers on Max, a former boxer with a dark past as a mob enforcer who has been in prison for over a decade, but is given a compassionate release when he's diagnosed with terminal cancer. The one condition he's given is he has to live with his estranged daughter and grandson, forcing them to confront the sins of his past.
I have four sons, I don't think I have anything in my life that I have to really go back and apologize for, but I have friends who [feel that way], so that that sort of dynamic, "How do you make peace before you transition?" Catherine is just amazing.
I really enjoyed seeing you and Christopher play off one another. Especially in the fight training sequences, and I know when it comes to stunts, actors can sometimes get carried away, did Christopher ever get carried away by accident filming those with you? Ernie Hudson: Well, a mentor in the sense that I didn't really get a chance to spend a lot of time, but I think if you're working on a set with people who really are trying to figure it out, trying to bring their best, and they're really curious [it's great], so we got a chance to talk a lot about starting out and being in the business and working, and just honest conversations, because out of that conversation, questions get asked, and sometimes it's not even about...
