Here is a look at the options available to Man United manager Erik ten Hag as the end of the transfer window approaches
Manchester United may need reinforcements in some areas but they're in good shape in others as the club heads towarda the final two weeks of the transfer market.
With the season underway, the manager will quickly spot any glaring holes in his squad and may choose to offload some players before the window comes to a close. Here, we assess the depth of United’s squad across every position: However, an injury to the former Burnley man saw Henderson included in the matchday squad against Wolves, having recently returned to fitness himself. The England international would have hoped to secure a move in order to earn first-team football ahead of the Euros next year, but Henderson is a quality back-up to Onana should he remain at the club beyond deadline day.At right-back, United can have few complaints.
Former captain Harry Maguire was a peripheral figure last season but still offered the Reds strength in depth. The England centre-back’s proposed move to West Ham has collapsed, leaving his future in limbo. Eric Bailly also remains on the club’s books after failing to seal a permanent move to former loan club Marseille but is still expected to leave United.Casemiro is another undisputed starter at the base of midfield but is lacking a quality deputy in the number six role.
An injury to skipper Bruno Fernandes would force Ten Hag to significantly alter the make-up of his midfield but, like Casemiro, an able back-up that would be willing to spend significant time on the bench is hard to find.Like full-back, Ten Hag will be more than happy with his current options on both wings, even if their opening display against Wolves left a lot to be desired.
Facundo Pellistri is another that will be hoping to follow in Garnacho’s footsteps, while Antony will want to perform well consistently, having had a year to settle in England. A lot had also been expected of Amad following his eye-catching loan spell with Sunderland, but an untimely injury has slowed his chances of breaking into the first team.
