Erik ten Hag wants a deep squad at Man Utd this season and to keep his players motivated he has coined a new phrase.
Erik ten Hag has told his Manchester United substitutes to think of themselves as "finishers" after seeing two of them win the game on the opening weekend of the season.
For those who do make the squad but find themselves on the bench, Ten Hag has called on them to be ready to go and win a game, just as Garnacho and Zirkzee did last week. "It is not only about the starters it is also about the finishers. I was very pleased last week that Zirkzee and Garnacho made the difference, one gave the assist and the other made the goal, that is what we need across the whole season. You don’t win with 11 players, in games but also between games, you need more than 11 players to win the football games."
