At Lyndhurst's City Council meeting Monday (Aug. 5), Mayor Patrick Ward told of the success of Saturday's Eric Carmen tribute concert held at Lyndhurst Park, and swore in a new city finance director. Council also paid tribute to recently retired Lyndhurst police K-9 officer Aries.

LYNDHURST , Ohio -- Mayor Patrick Ward, during Monday’s City Council meeting, couldn’t say enough good words about the Eric Carmen tribute concert the city held two nights earlier in Lyndhurst Park.
“We wanted to do him proud, do his wife proud, by having an event that was dignified, fun, and that, secondarily, raised some money for a music scholarship and music education for our local South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools students,” said Ward.“We could not have executed any better,” he said of the concert. “The weather -- God was smiling on us -- the weather was great, the band was great, the crowd was huge, the food trucks sold out, which was great for them.
Petrunyak, a Cleveland resident, comes to Lyndhurst after serving the past four years as finance director in Seven Hills. Asked why he made the move, Petrunyak said, ”It was just an opportunity that presented itself, an opportunity to grow professionally.Petrunyak grew up in North Royalton. ”I’m a West Sider by geography, so I’m going to have to learn about this area. That’s another thing I’m excited about.
