Protesters at Columbia University, Barnard College and New York University have faced arrest and school suspension over the last several days.

"There are people who come, have nothing to do with the issue and they want to aggravate," Adams said. "But I believe there's a number of people who are really trying to use this as an opportunity to cause violence in our city." "We can't have outside agitators come in and be destructive to our city," Adams said. "Someone wanted something to happen at that protest at NYU."A total of 120 protesters were arrested at NYU Monday, according to the New York City Police Department .
