Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to continue supporting Palestinians in the lead-up to the holy month of Ramadan, reiterating Turkey's commitment amidst a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Erdogan also addressed the recent ski resort fire in Bolu, assuring that those responsible would face justice.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged continued support for Palestinians ahead of the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan . Erdogan made the statement on Saturday at the AK Party's 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress in Eskisehir, northwestern Turkey . \'Just as we stood by our Palestinian brothers for 15 months (of Israel 's genocidal war), we will once again mobilize all our resources ahead of the holy month of Ramadan ,' Erdogan said. Ramadan this year is expected to fall around March.
The pledge comes as a ceasefire between Palestinian group Hamas and Israel continues, with Hamas handing over four female Israeli soldiers earlier Saturday under a prisoner exchange agreement. \The first six-week phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect on January 19, suspending Israel's offensive that has killed over 47,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured more than 111,000 since October 7, 2023. Erdogan also addressed the tragic ski resort fire in Bolu, northwestern Turkey earlier this week, assuring the nation that those responsible would be held accountable. 'All steps are being taken without compromise to ensure those who inflicted great pain on our nation are held accountable in a court of law,' the Turkish President said. The fire killed at least 78 people, according to the country's Justice Ministry, with the identification of all bodies now complete. The pre-dawn blaze erupted Tuesday in the restaurant area of the Kartalkaya ski resort hotel and quickly spread throughout the building, according to the city's governor. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc previously stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway, led by a team of six prosecutors and a five-member expert committee
