Star Trek Enterprise star Scott Bakula is open to a franchise return. 'I’ve been doing this too long to ever say never or no to anybody.'
Star Trek: Enterprise star Scott Bakula has revealed he would be open to returning to the Star Trek universe at some point in the future. Enterprise, which was the sixth spin-off in the Star Trek franchise, first aired in September 2001, before concluding in May 2005. Set 100 years before the events of the original series, it followed the crew of the Enterprise as they explored the galaxy and encountered alien species.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Speaking in an exclusive interview with TrekMovie, the 68-year-old discussed his belief that the show was canceled prematurely, as well as stating his position on a possible return to the franchise. Bakula expressed disappointment that Enterprise was canceled unexpectedly - a move many believe contributed to the network's eventual collapse - as well as revealing that he is open to returning to the Star Trek franchise some day.
I’ve been doing this too long to ever say never or no to anybody. I talk to everybody about stuff. So, sure. How Bakula's Archer Could Return To Star Trek From a fan perspective, the great thing about a franchise like Star Trek is that it will never not exist in some form or another, and this gives scope for revisiting story arcs and characters from previous series' and movies.
It feels unlikely that Enterprise would receive a reboot, in spite of its popularity, and, should any return happen for Bakula, it would most probably be as part of a spin-off show. It is also unclear whether bringing back the character of Archer would be feasible, as this would depend on the story being explored. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 will air in 2023, and fans would be wise not to hold out hope for an Archer appearance.
There is also the matter of Bakula's career as well, and whether he would have time in his schedule to meet the demands of a return to such a prominent franchise. Additionally, there are already plenty of rumors concerning another of the NCIS: New Orleans star's classic shows, with many asking if Bakula will appear in the Quantum Leap reboot. So far there is nothing concrete, and the actor has downplayed chances of a return, but it should not be ruled out at this stage.
