David Mundee With less than a week before postseason play begins, Enterprise volleyball coach Jen Graham said it was time for her team to show a killer instinct mentality in matches.

People are also reading… “I just told the girls that you come to a tournament like this with a lot of local teams in all different classifications that they are all gunning for you and you need to walk into the gym not allowing people think they have a chance,” Graham said. “I thought we did a great job overall,” Houston Academy head coach Hannah Braswell said. “The girls started off a little slow, but they really started communicating and working really well together. They served well. They had great passing, which led to us being able to be aggressive in attacks.”“The championship match was amazing,” Braswell said. “Enterprise is an amazing team and we were glad we got to battle against them. The first set was close and we did battle.

The three combined on 58 kills over the day’s three matches with Britton with 27, Wiggins 17 and Townsend 14. Setter Lauren Kinney set up most of the kills, delivering 38 assists, including 10 in the championship match. Sydney Neuwein added seven assists in the final match. In the championship match, Enterprise had a comfortable lead in the first set, but the Raiders came charging back, cutting it to two at 20-19 after a couple of EHS hitting errors.

In addition to Gay’s five kills and four blocks, Caroline Wells had five kills and Ann Davis Sinquefield four kills. Mallory Magrino had seven digs, Sofia Langford six digs and both Molly Rutland and Emily Adams had two digs. Rutland delivered 10 assists and two aces and Rylie Spence had four assists.

Geneva advances to Gold semifinals: Class 4A No. 9 ranked Geneva defeated Class 3A No. 9 Northside Methodist Academy 27-25, 25-21 and lost to Enterprise 25-13, 23-25, 15-6. NMA falls in Gold opener: Northside Methodist Academy fell to Geneva in a Gold Bracket opener 27-25, 25-22.
