The rumored English Squid Game series from David Fincher is picking up some steam, with Deadline recently reporting more on the project.
In a recent report, Deadline mentioned that Fincher is working on the project, having joined on to develop it. The report notes though thedirector could still film a picture between now and then, the Squid Game series is “likely” what he is set to work on throughout 2025.
This isn’t the first time that reports of an English Squid Game from Netflix have popped up. Last year, it was also reported that Fincher had been eyed to helm the project.suggested that Netflix was interested in making an American version of the show, although Sneider noted that he didn’t know what a U.S. version of Squid Game would look like.
Fincher’s latest work includes the 2023 action thriller The Killer for Netflix, as well as 2020’s Mank, which was also a Netflix project. Squid Game hails from writer-director Hwang Dong-Hyuk, who is best known for his works on South Korean films such as The Fortress, Miss Granny, and Silenced. It centers around a group of 456 cash-strapped players who accept a strange invitation to compete in children’s games at a remote island in hopes of winning 456 billion won.
