Supervisor launches campaign urging District 4 residents not to sign recall petition
It starts by preventing it from ever coming to a vote.
It’s all in an effort to prevent Engardio, who gained political prominence by first backing the recall of three school board members and then District Attorney Chesa Boudin in 2022, from being on the opposite end of one. Engardio’s anti-recall campaign is predicated on his belief that politicians should not be recalled based on a single issue. Though he was a vocal proponent and organizer of the school-board recall, he said its members had built up a litany of offenses before their ouster.

K opponents that the entire city would decide something that disproportionately impacts them, but Engardio countered that “either way, had it not been on the ballot and the 11 supervisors had to decide the fate, you would have east-side supervisors voting for it.”
