Biden's energy secretary's 'troubles' on her electric vehicle road trip solidifies the importance of consumer choice, American Petroleum Institute's Mike Sommer says.

Manhattan Institute senior fellow Mark Mills has the latest on electric vehicle ownership on 'Making Money.'

"We're now down to the lowest [Strategic Petroleum Reserve] levels that we have since 1984. And here's the problem," Sommers explained. "We use 20% more oil today than we did in 1984. We're at about a 13-day use of oil left in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Here's the answer: we need to unlock American resources."

The Department of Energy told Fox News Digital in a statement on Monday: "For over a decade, while our global competitors geared up for the clean energy transition, America lagged behind. Now, with President Biden’s historic Investing in America agenda we have over $7 billion to build out convenient and reliable EV charging infrastructure, a portion of which is already awarded to every state, D.C. and Puerto Rico.
